Ruginoasa Palace,

"The traveller finds himself magically transported into a castle, as if described by Walter Scott, where he can discover, besides the glory of feudalism, the husbandry of Poland and the elegance of France" - that is what the Romanian writer Constantin Negruzzi wrote about the Ruginoasa Palace.

Ruginoasa is a locality of Moldavia, located 62 km from the city of Iasi and 10 km from Pascani. It gained its fame thanks to the fact that Alexandru Ioan Cuza, who united and ruled the Romanian Principalities from 1859 to 1866, established his capital here.

The palace was built in 1811 and its architecture belongs to the neo-gothic style. The building, which had been purchased by Cuza, was restored and furnished by Princess Elena, his wife. After the death of the prince and of his two sons, the princess Elena left the Ruginoasa Palace. In 1907, the mortal remains of the prince were buried in the crypt of the church raised in 1833. The palace was restored in 1975 and is now a museum.
