THE ALEXANDRU IOAN CUZA UNIVERSITY


The University of Iaşi is a university in Iasi, Romania. It was the first institution of its kind in the Danubian Principalites, opening in 1860.

The university is made up of 15 faculties (History, School of Law, School of Business and Administration, Philosophy, Letters, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, School of Pedagogy, Geography, Orthodox Theology, Catholic Theology, and Sport) with more than 35,000 students. The rector is Professor Vasile Isan.

The Iaşi campus is situated on Copou hill in the northern part of the city. The main building of the university was built in 1896, and was enlarged in the 1930s.
